Keep a local note for a specific purpose
A travel checklist or a personal draft can stay in a local Veil space. In the current preview, notes are plain-text files stored in the encrypted vault. Creating and editing a saved local note does not require the online sharing service. This is a text workflow, not a promise of rich formatting, embedded photos or live collaboration.
Save before you leave the editor
Give the note a title, enter its text and choose Save. Reopen it to confirm the saved version. Do not treat an unfinished editor as an automatically saved draft. Leaving Veil can lock the space and dismiss private screens; save the changes you want to retain before switching apps or putting the phone away.
Use titles you can search
The collection search matches filenames, not the full text inside every note. A title such as “Trip packing — October” is easier to find than “Note 4”. Use folders and favorites to reduce browsing. If a note seems missing, clear the search and active filters before assuming it was deleted.
Review separate versions deliberately
Do not assume an offline edit has arrived on another device. Live online services are disabled in the current release configuration. The development conflict workflow preserves competing note versions for review rather than silently choosing one. When versions are shown, read both, keep the wording you need and delete a redundant copy only after checking the result.
An export is readable outside the space
Exporting a note prepares an ordinary readable file for the iOS share sheet. Saving it elsewhere or sending it creates a copy outside the vault’s control. Locking Veil does not remove that delivered copy. Check the destination and recipient, and avoid exporting the entire collection when only one note is needed.
Offline storage is not a recovery plan
A local note can still be lost if the device or its vault data becomes unavailable. Make an encrypted backup containing the saved note and keep its matching recovery code separately. A readable text export is useful for another purpose; it does not restore the whole space. Restoring purchases is not restoring notes.
Check your routine before you depend on it
Before a trip, save a harmless test note, lock and reopen the space, then check it without a connection. Confirm the latest changes are there and that your backup is accessible where you intend to keep it. Download any source files you need in advance. Offline editing does not make cloud downloads, purchases or online invitations work without a connection.
